Cultural Kete

Cultural Kete

Our task for our cultural Kete was to make something or drawing something like a poster/object about our culture. We had to make a something that represents our culture like a really cultural object that our culture uses daily or back then.I was in the making of a Poster about Samoan Chief and what Samoans people uses daily or what they use as weapons.Sadly I wasn't finish my Poster due to the lack of work the I was putting into this poster but I know next time To stay focused and finish work when it needs to be handed in.

But I really enjoyed This project/Cultural Kete because I found out a-lot of about my culture than I really know and what Samoans now days use.I know that Samoans are experts at cleaning so there's a Samoan broom that is made out of wood basically. But I really enjoyed this Cultural Task it helps people know where there from and what there culture is all about.Samoan Coconut Leaf Fan

In Math we have tested our reaction time with our arms.We first tested out non dominant hand to see how fast it would react and it the reaction time was as quick. My dominant hand had a faster reaction time because It was my dominant hand and i'm used to using my right hand more than my left.

Here are my results to prove that my dominant hand has a faster reaction than my non dominant hand.My non-dominant hand needs working on like I need to kind of use it more just to make my left hand react the same as my right hand.

Maths

Mean:The mean is the average of the numbers. It is easy to calculate: add up all the numbers, then divide by how many numbers there are. In other words it is the sum divided by the count.

E.g 10 + 10 +10 +10 + 10=50 50÷ 5=10.10

Who Invented Mean?

The Belgian statistician Quetelet (1796-1874), famous as the inventor of l'homme moyen, the average man, was one of the first scientists to use the mean as the representative value for an aspect of a population.

Who Invented Mode?An early use of the statistical concept of the mode was by English mathematician Karl Pearson (1857-1936) in 1895

Who invented Median? The idea of the median appeared in the 13th century in the Talmud, in order to fairly analyze divergent appraisals. However, the concept did not spread to the broader scientific community.

Link:Math/Mean,Median and Mode

What is Mean?It is the sum (total) of all the values in a set of data, such as numbers or measurements, divided by the number of values on the list. To find the mean, add up all the values in the set. Then divide the sum by how many values there are.

What is Mode Math? The mode is the number that occurs most often in a data set.

What is Median Math?To find the Median, place the numbers in value order and find the middle number.

Reflection for this week

Week 6

This Week was actually a good week for me I really enjoyed these pass days I've been in a good mood all of the time and not really grumpy and mad like usual. But I've enjoyed all of my classes because all of the students are happy and excited to be at school. In Math I've learn't a lot and I'm just getting ready for the upcoming assessment and also a upcoming science test.In Math i've learn't how to calculate the area of shape's and combined shapes.Mr Rees has taught us how to calculate the missing area on the shape.I feel confident that I will pass my assessment and tests.I also like the vibe around school it's chill and not much fights as usual. But Yeah I've enjoyed Wananga alot with the best teacher Mr Richardson he always happy and not grumpy like my other teachers and the students around also. But yeah I've really enjoyed this week

I'm looking forward for Next week like the new timetable, like how we are going go with the new timetable and new lunches that are going to be provided.

what is a Combination square used for,and what is it?

combination square is a multi-use measuring instrument which is primarily used for ensuring the integrity of a 90° angle, measuring a 45° angle, measuring the center of a circular object, find depth, and simple distance measurements.A combination square has a metal ruler with a temp measurer or something.

What is a Tri-sqaure used for,and what is it?

try square or try-square is a woodworking tool used for marking and checking 90° angles on pieces of wood. Typically a tri-square is a flat steel blade riveted at exactly 90 degrees to a wooden handle, and that has a strip of brass attached to .

What is a marking gauge used for?and what is it?
A marking gauge is used in woodworking to mark out lines for cutting or other purposes. The main purpose is to scribe a line parallel to a reference edge.marking gauge, also known as a scratch gauge, is used in woodworking and metalworking to mark out lines for cutting

What is a carpenter pencils used for and what do they look like?
Carpenter pencils are used by builders, because they are suitable for marking on surfaces like concrete or stone.carpenter pencil may just look like an odd-shaped regular pencil, but it's so much more than that.

How is it sharpened?

what is a sliding bevel, and what is it?
sliding T bevel, also known as a bevel gauge or false square is an adjustable gauge for setting and transferring angles. Different from the square, which is fixed and can only set a 90° angle

What other specific tools for woodworking/building do you think you might need.?

Use pictures  to explain what they are for?

1.Power saws:-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bflTi41S6Og

The portable electric circular saw, with the blade attached to a motor shaft, is probably the most commonly used saw, particularly by home handymen.

2.Hand saws:-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpu75Lq9aFU

A hand saw usually requires muscles because it's really all about swinging the saw and swinging with power that way it will saw it's way into the wood/timber.A hand saw has One big blade like maybe a metre long.It has teeth on the blade at the very bottom.

3.Sand paper:-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1am4dPnnGoE

Sand paper it like a piece of strong paper with rough layers of rocks I guess on it.Sand paper is used for smoothing out something on you piece of timber/wood like a rough but on your piece of wood the sand paper is used to smoothing it out.

4.Files:-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32FUysj-Lu4

file is a tool used to remove fine amounts of material from a work piece. It is common in woodworking, metalworking.A file has a square-ish piece of metal attached to a hand-holder.The metal square also has rough bits on it similar to the sand paper.

A drill is a man-made machine and is used to create holes in an object like timber. The drill creates a hole for a screw to be screwed in to attached something to another.A has a engine and electric engine with a drill bit attacher at the front.
